Swimming Pool Construction Phases

General List of Swimming Pool Construction Phases

  1. Permitting.  Six weeks to Eight weeks.  (Down payment due) 

  2. Lay out pool.  Frame pool with wood to match shape on your print.  (click to view)

  3. Dig. Track hoe digs pool while walls are handed shaped. (click to view)

  4. Steel.  3/8" steel is placed in pool to form what will become a  steel basket. (click to view)

  5. Preplumbing  Plumbing is installed that will not be accessible after concrete is sprayed i.e..  main drains, fountains, jets, in floor cleaners.

  6. Steel inspection.  City or county inspect the job to assure all work meets code

  7. Plumbing inspection. City or county inspect the job to assure all work meets code.

  8. Shoot High strength concrete is applied pneumatically at 200 lbs. of pressure to ensure the highest quality shell.  (Shell payment due)

  9. Pregrade.  Wood forms are removed and deck area is graded. 

  10. Plumbing.  Pool equipment is set on site (unless house is under construction) Installed on 4" slab poured on site. All  lines are connected to proper inlets and outlets on pool and pressure test.

  11. Plumbing inspection. City or county check plumbing to ensure all plumbing holds pressure.

  12. Form Deck.  Perimeter of deck is formed with wood.  Plumbing is covered.  Deck drains are installed.

  13. 6" Waterline tile or Brick coping installed around perimeter of pool and/or spa.

  14. Electric. Power is run to pool equipment location.  Panel is set with breakers and timer.  Equipment is hooked up.  Deck is grounded.  Lights are installed.

  15. Electric Inspection. City or county checks to ensure all electric codes are met.

  16. Deck Pour.  4 in. concrete slab is poured with proper drainage and expansion control.  (Deck payment due)

  17. Top Deck or Install Pavers.  Kool deck or acrylic toppings applied or interlocking pavers are installed.

  18. Screen.  Enclosure is built to engineer's standards. (Screen payment is due)

  19. Prep pool for interior finish.  All construction debris removed from pool.  Pool is washed with acid. (Interior Finish payment is due.)

  20. Interior Finish.  Waterproof marcite or exposed aggregate is installed. (click to view)

  21. Exposed aggregate or marcite is washed. 

  22. Pool is filled--24 to 48 hours.  (do not turn water off)

  23. Fire-up and clean pool.  Tile is cleaned. Pool is brushed. Chemicals are balanced.  Pumps are turned on 24 hours a day.  Deck is cleaned (unless there is no sod)

  24. Yard clean up.  All construction debris is removed from yard and dirt is graded.

  25. Pool Operation Instructions. Cleaning equipment is brought to house, and pool owner is instructed of proper pool care and maintenance.  (Pool owner calls us for appointment).

  26. Deck Sealing or final acrylic coat applied.  (can be rain delayed)

  27. Pool and spa are ready to use
